About the role
As Head of Advanced Analytics, you will be working within our dynamic and growing Analytics & Insight team. The team provides a full-service research and analytics function – covering a wide spectrum of methodologies from audience planning and research communities to econometrics, attribution and structured testing. We take a methodologically neutral approach, designing bespoke measurement frameworks based on our client’s individual business objectives. The required Head of Advanced Analytics at AKA will have the following characteristics:
- Relentless intellectual curiosity
- Knowledge of Econometrics, Forecasting, Structured Testing, Customer Level Analysis
- Comfortable in the minute detail of large data sets but equally mindful of the big picture
- Results oriented with an unerring focus on adding commercial value for our clients through better use of data and analytics
- A strong knowledge of the media and advertising industry and a desire to learn more
- An awareness of current hot topics in the industry, with their own perspective as well
- Desire to get involved in wider agency functions beyond the day job – collaborative approach with a good understanding of how Analytics & Insight fit into the broader offering of the company
The successful candidate is guaranteed variety – working across a broad selection of clients, categories, consumers and project briefs.
About you
The ideal candidate must have:
- Previous experience in marketing effectiveness or media data analysis role, either client side, in specialist consultancy or (ideally) within a media agency
- Extensive experience building commercial econometric models and using the outputs for forecasting & optimisation to improve client business/media performance
- Excellent data visualisation skills and attention to detail
- The ability to communicate complex ideas in a concise, non-technical manner
- An understanding of the media planning and buying process – both offline and online channels
- The ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to teach and be taught – absorb new knowledge quickly as well as educating and empowering your agency colleagues
- Self-starter with the ability to proactively identify client needs and the solutions that meet and exceed them
- Support the wider A&I team in developing tools and ideas to grow the business in to new areas using the latest techniques
- Econometrics/Economics/ Mathematics (with Econometrics) degree with 2.1 or higher
The ideal candidate will have some experience of:
- Scripting languages such as R, Python, SQL – comfortable cleaning, merging and manipulating large data sets, querying databases and data mining. Previous use of data integration tools such as Supermetrics, Funnel or Alteryx would be advantageous.
- Some client facing experience, comfortable presenting to large audiences and dealing with challenging questions
- Experience building marketing performance dashboards (e.g. Datorama, Microsoft BI, Tableau etc)
- Development of simple front ends in VBA, HTML etc
- An interest or background in methods such as Propensity Modelling, Unobserved Components, Markov Chains or Machine Learning Algorithms like Random Forest
